Rayburn Ranger,  Gas Nouvelle, 365G & 365L

Ranger Open Flue Model in Silver Mist

Ranger Balanced Flue Model  in Sable

The Rayburn Ranger was first produced in 1984 to make available a gas fired Rayburn which would give cooking, domestic hot water and a high level of central heating. It had two independent burners. Domestic hot water (up to 2.9KW) was produced while the cooker burner was alight, and a further 16KW (55000BTU/Hr) was available for central heating from the boiler burner. Therefore the total output to water was 19KW (65000BTU/Hr).

It was available for firstly a conventional flue and later a balanced flue. However, the boiler burner output was slightly reduced to 15KW (51000BTU/Hr) on the balanced flue model. Both versions were available as Natural Gas or LPG (propane) options.

The balanced flue model was suitable for a maximum wall thickness of 355mm and was fitted with a small electric fan, manually switched, for oven venting purposes.

The domestic hot water was produced by open vented gravity circulation when the cooker burner was alight. It was intended that the cooker burner be continually burning, thus hot water was always available. The heating circuit could incorporate a circulating pump on the return pipe, controlled by a room thermostat and /or programmer, or could utilize a fully pumped system which used three zone valves.

The controls for both boiler and ovens were on the left hand side of the appliance, and they were only produced with right hand ovens.

It was later (1988) superceded by  the Rayburn Gas Nouvelle, which had started production in 1986. The appliances had the same burner and heat output specification, but were visually different in respect to the insulating lids (enameled on the Ranger - chrome on the Nouvelle), and the Nouvelle was available in a new range of colours, but always with a black top-plate.

In 1994 the models were re-designated as the 365G & 365L, before their production finally ceased in 1995.
