TURNING YOUR RAYBURN ON Solid Fuel Models 200S, 212S,
216M and SFW Variants, On the boiler models ensure that the water system is filled before firing the Rayburn See also Fuels Warning. Always check that the flue and chimney is clean and not blocked, before lighting a solid fuel appliance. 1. Make sure you have the correct fuel available. On models 200 and 212 SFW, fit the flat circular grate when burning wood. 2. Open the ash-pit and fire doors. On some
models they are interlocked, requiring the firedoor to be opened first. 3. If necessary
empty the grate and ash-pan of any ash or clinker. If there is a build up of clinker, the
fire-grate may need to be removed to clean. Use the special tool as shown in the
drawings.
4. On Models MF, 216M & 216SFW only. Choose correct position for loose firebricks e.g. summer or winter conditions. See below. If burning Coke or Sunbrite fuel, set the Secondary Air slide to the closed position, i.e. over to the left hand side. This is visible just inside the firebox door. With all other fuels set the lever to the right. see below 216M, 216SFW & MF Models
5. Open the flue damper and Spin wheel fully. see below
6. Lay a liberal supply of paper, covered by dry wood sticks and a small amount of the appropriate fuel. Alternatively fire lighters may be used. 7. Light the paper or firelighters and close both doors tightly. 8. When the fire is well established and alight, more fuel may be added up to
the maximum level shown below. 9. The flue damper can gradually be closed as far as possible. Control of the burning rate and hence the cooker temperature is achieved by adjusting the spin-wheel. 10. When burning wood, it may be necessary
to open the flue chamber door slightly, to reduce the flue draught and ensure
slumbering rate. The higher the flue draught, the more the door will need to be
open. Use the Flue Dilution lever for this as shown below.
WARNING. If the fire does not burn properly; or if there is a persistent smell of fumes; or you are unsure if the cooker has been serviced recently, --- DO NOT USE --- Have the appliance checked by a qualified engineer. |
