TURNING YOUR RAYBURN ON
Models 222K & OF22
Make sure that the water system is full before
lighting.
Never try and relight a hot burner.
Turn ON any external valves on the oil line.
Set the flue damper 'G' and air flap 'H' to their
relevant positions
These cookers were available with right or left
handed oven options. The illustration and instructions refer to a right hand
model. Please interpret accordingly for left handed cookers.


To light cooker burner:
1. Open burner door and lift off the inner door
2. Remove Oil control valve cover (if
fitted)
3. Ensure that boiler control knob 'E' is at OFF
4. Set cooker control knob 'C' to maximum
5. On the front of the oil control valve, press
trip lever 'D' down until it clicks and then release.
6. Wait about 15 minutes then slide open the
three lighting ports 'F' on the cooker burner.
7. Apply a match or taper through each of the
three lighting ports to ignite the wicks. Carefully
close the lighting ports.
8. After a further 15 minutes, replace the inner
door and close the outer. Turn cooker control knob 'C' down to its lowest
setting. Keep it at the lowest setting for about 30 minutes to allow the burner
to reach its normal operating temperature. Thereafter the knob 'C' can be used
to regulate the cooker temperature as desired.
Domestic hot water will be produced.
To light boiler burner:
1. Cooker burner must already be alight as
described above.
2. The air flap 'H' and flue damper 'G' must be
set to the winter position.
3. Turn boiler burner control knob 'E' ON and
wait for 10 minutes.
4. Open the outer burner door and carefully lift
off the inner door, so as not to disturb the cooker burner. Slide open the three
lighting ports 'F' on the boiler burner and apply a match or taper to the wicks
to ignite.
5. Close the lighting flap and immediately
replace the inner door.
6. Turn the boiler control knob 'E' to its
minimum setting for about 20 minutes to allow the burner to reach its normal
operating temperature.
7. Thereafter the knob 'E' should be turned to
its maximum setting and the water temperature can be regulated using the
thermostat knob 'B'
Several different control arrangements have been
used over the years, but the operating procedures are basically common to all
models.
WARNING. If either of the burner
fails to ignite or operate properly; or there is a strong smell of oil or fumes;
or you are unsure if the Rayburn has been serviced recently, --- DO NOT
USE --- Have the appliance checked by a qualified engineer.
