Turn ON any external valves on the oil line.

Set the flue damper 'G' and air flap 'H' to their relevant positions

These cookers were available with right or left handed oven options. The illustration and instructions refer to a right hand model. Please interpret accordingly for left handed cookers.

To light cooker burner:

1. Open burner door and lift off the inner door

2. Remove Oil control valve cover  (if fitted)

3. Ensure that boiler control knob 'E' is at OFF

4. Set cooker control knob 'C' to maximum

5. On the front of the oil control valve, press trip lever 'D' down until it clicks and then release.

6. Wait about 15 minutes then slide open the three lighting ports 'F' on the cooker burner.

7. Apply a match or taper through each of the three lighting ports to ignite the wicks.     Carefully close the lighting ports.

8. After a further 15 minutes, replace the inner door and close the outer. Turn cooker control knob 'C' down to its lowest setting. Keep it at the lowest setting for about 30 minutes to allow the burner to reach its normal operating temperature. Thereafter the knob 'C' can be used to regulate the cooker temperature as desired.

Domestic hot water will be produced.

To light boiler burner:

1. Cooker burner must already be alight as described above.

2. The air flap 'H' and flue damper 'G' must be set to the winter position.

3. Turn boiler burner control knob 'E' ON and wait for 10 minutes.

4. Open the outer burner door and carefully lift off the inner door, so as not to disturb the cooker burner. Slide open the three lighting ports 'F' on the boiler burner and apply a match or taper to the wicks to ignite.

5. Close the lighting flap and immediately replace the inner door.

6. Turn the boiler control knob 'E' to its minimum setting for about 20 minutes to allow the burner to reach its normal operating temperature.

7. Thereafter the knob 'E' should be turned to its maximum setting and the water temperature can be regulated using the thermostat knob 'B'

Several different control arrangements have been used over the years, but the operating procedures are basically common to all models.

WARNING. If either of the burner fails to ignite or operate properly; or there is a strong smell of oil or fumes; or you are unsure if the Rayburn has been serviced recently,  --- DO NOT USE --- Have the appliance checked by a qualified engineer.
