TURNING YOUR RAYBURN ON

Models 365G/L & Gas Nouvelle

Before attempting to light the Rayburn ensure that the plumbing system is filled.

To Light - Open Flue Models only

1. Open the outer burner door 'N' and lift off the inner door 'M'

2. Turn the external gas cock  ON, with the groove in line with the pipe.

Lighting the cooker burner. (Electricity supply not required)

3. Ensure that cooker burner thermostat 'D' is in the OFF position. Turn on the pilot control button 'Q' so that the slot is in line with the pipe. (use a screwdriver or coin)

4. Push and hold in the  cooker control button 'B' and light the pilot burner 'C' with a taper.

5. Continue to hold in button 'B' for a further 15 seconds before releasing.

6. Release 'B' and pilot should stay alight. If not wait 3 minutes and repeat the above, but keeping 'B' pressed for slightly longer.

7. Replace inner door 'M'. Push in and turn cooker burner thermostat to low position, when the main burner 'E' should light smoothly. This is the normal thermostat position when the cooker is not required for use.

Lighting the boiler burner.

8. Make sure that the cooker burner has first been lit as above.

9. Switch off main electricity supply to the Rayburn, but turn any external controls e.g. room thermostat or time-clock to an ON or high setting.

10.Turn the boiler thermostat 'H' to the OFF position.

11. Lift off the inner burner door 'M' taking care as it might be hot.

12. Push and hold in the boiler gas control valve 'F' and light the pilot burner 'G' with a taper.

13. Keep 'F' pressed in for a further 15 seconds before releasing.

14. Release 'F'  and pilot should stay alight. If not, wait 3 minutes then repeat the procedure, but keeping 'F' held in for slightly longer.

15. Replace inner door ' M'.

16. Switch ON the external electricity supply and turn on the boiler thermostat 'H' to the desired setting. The main burner 'J' should then light smoothly.

WARNING. If the burner fails to ignite or operate properly; or there is a smell of gas or fumes; or you are unsure if the cooker has been serviced recently,  --- DO NOT USE --- Have the appliance checked by a qualified engineer.

To Light - Balanced Flue Models Only.

 

Lighting the cooker burner.

1. Open the outer burner door 'N' 

2. Ensure that the external gas cock 'A' and the pilot cock 'Q' are on (groove in line with pipe).  Turn the cooker thermostat 'D' to the OFF position.

3. Push and hold in the cooker pilot control button 'B' whilst repeatedly pushing the left-hand spark generator button 'S' until the pilot flame can be seen through the window 'C'

4. Continue holding the button 'B' for at least 15 seconds before releasing. 

5. Release 'B' and pilot should stay alight. If not wait 3 minutes and repeat the above, but keeping 'B' pressed for slightly longer.

6. Push in and turn cooker burner thermostat to low position, when the main burner 'E' should light smoothly. This is the normal thermostat position when the cooker is not required for use.

To light boiler burner.

7. Make sure that the cooker burner has first been lit as above.

8. Switch off main electricity supply to the Rayburn, but turn any external controls e.g. room thermostat or time-clock to an ON or high setting.

9. Turn the boiler thermostat 'H' to the OFF position.

10. Push and hold in the boiler control valve button 'F' whilst repeatedly depressing the left-hand spark generator 'S' until the pilot flame can be seen through the window 'G'

11. Keep 'F' pressed in for a further 15 seconds before releasing.

12. Release 'F'  and pilot should stay alight. If not, wait 3 minutes then repeat the procedure, but keeping 'F' held in for slightly longer.

13. Switch ON the external electricity supply and any other controls then turn on the boiler thermostat 'H' to the desired setting. The main burner 'J' should then light smoothly.
