TURNING YOUR RAYBURN ON
440, 460, 480, 499 All Gas & Oil Models,
Open & Balanced Flue.
Ensure that the water system is filled before
firing the Rayburn
These models are fitted with two independent
burners, one for cooking and the other for central heating & hot water. Both
are fully automatic in operation, under the control of their respective
thermostats, time clock and any other external controls which may be fitted.
The control panel can be accessed through the
controls door (top left) and will appear as follows, dependent on model age or
type.

To operate either burner.
1. Ensure that the fuel (oil or gas) and
electricity supply is turned on to the Rayburn and that any external controls
which are fitted such as a room thermostat etc are also calling for heat.
2. Check that the reset button (buttons 1997
onwards) are pushed in.
3. Set the appropriate programmer channel to an
ON setting/period
4. Turn ON the relevant thermostat control knob
and the burner will shortly fire.
5. If the burners fail to ignite, they will shut
down safely and the relevant control box lock-out lamp will illuminate. see
illustrations below.
Wait 3
minutes and then press the button to reset and attempt another start up. If the
burner repeatedly locks-out, turn the thermostat OFF and seek technical help
from your service engineer.
6. When operating the boiler burner, use the
priority switch to give either domestic hot water only or, when illuminated,
domestic hot water + central heating.

WARNING. If either burner fails
to ignite or operate properly; or if there is a smell of gas or oil fumes; or if
the overheat reset buttons keep tripping; or you are unsure if the cooker has
been serviced recently, --- DO NOT USE --- Have the appliance checked by a
qualified engineer.
